Joel Tompkins, CRNA, MSN, is an experienced anesthesia leader and healthcare executive known for bridging clinical excellence with strategic growth. Beginning his career as a practicing Certified Registered Nurse Anesthetist, Joel developed a deep understanding of patient care before expanding his focus to the broader healthcare system. Driven by a curiosity about how organizations operate and scale, he transitioned into leadership roles, ultimately serving as President of Client Services at NorthStar Anesthesia. In this role, he helped grow one of the nation’s largest anesthesia organizations, guiding operational strategy and client partnerships. Joel’s career reflects a commitment to improving both patient outcomes and the systems that support high-quality care.

Dr. Tran is a board-certified pediatric gastroenterologist and medical educator at Baylor College of Medicine and Texas Children’s Hospital in Houston, Texas. He completed his medical degree at UT Southwestern, residency at Dell Medical School, and fellowship at Baylor. He specializes in high-value pediatric GI care, including sedation-free transnasal endoscopy and multidisciplinary management of GI cancer predisposition. Passionate about mentorship, he serves as a clerkship co-director and clinical skills preceptor, helping trainees take ownership of their growth.

He is also the creator of Alimentary School, a widely recognized medical education platform where he uses humor and storytelling to make training more relatable and accessible—reaching a large and growing audience of medical students and physicians across social media.
